What would you do if you were diagnosed with a mystery illness, and given a variety of medical treatments and medications, which only made your condition worse? Would you simply give in and let nature take its course, or would you defy the odds and find a solution when the best-trained medical doctors could not?
About Elle Snyder
A student at Colorado University Boulder – and not just any student – Elle Snyder is a brain health expert, having earned her certification through the Amen Clinics Professional Brain Health Program. She is deeply focused and passionate about brain health, specifically to ensure that today’s young adults become aware of the importance of taking care of their brains, and the simple steps they can take to maintain vibrant and healthy brains. Not satisfied with a mere certification, Elle has taken her training 10 steps forward and founded the “BUFF-BRAIN GYM” which is a student-run organization at CU Boulder where students learn more about their own brains through resources made available via the Amen Clinics. It is also a space where students share their own brain health stories via the site’s blog and podcast. This resource is a first of its kind at the University level, and a model being studied at and duplicated by universities around the country. Elle is a world traveler, who is keenly interested in learning about new cultures, and meeting people from those societies to do so helps her learn and become more in tune with who she really is. In this interview, Elle is going to share with us a little bit of her personal story which starts with being diagnosed with a mystery illness, being medically misdiagnosed and mistreated to finally discovering the solution. Elle is also a participant in the Voices of Impact Awards which of course is open to university students, and man-oh-man our judges will have a difficult time choosing the winner of the Student Impact Award.
